Give and Let Give #34: 8/29 - 9/4

WRITTEN BY

Welcome back! We are digging into the trenches.

Last week, the biggest trade was for a Card Lot valued at 73,500 points. I don't know what was in the package, but it must have been something good! Either way a special shout out goes to Serby.

The main topic is the pair of Legends cards niether of which I've seen before and both likely went to collectors. The first is Knowledge Vault. It seems interesting at first, but once you realize how much mana you have to pump into this thing (6) just to get one card, it seems like there are better options. Bomat Courier comes to mind even though it does require R to activate. The 90's wording is a little confusing too, but there has been an errata:

2T: Exile the top card of your library face down.

0: Sacrifice Knowledge Vault. If you do, discard your hand, then put all cards exiled with Knowledge Vault into their owner's hand.

When Knowledge Vault leaves the battlefield, put all cards exiled with Knowledge Vault into their owner's graveyard.

The topic of strange wording leads us to this weeks top trade. This one has also been errated to: "T: If target Plains is tapped for mana, it produces colorless mana instead of white mana. (This effect lasts indefinitely.)". This is a pretty unique effect that color hoses white mana. It seem interesting in EDH, but there are many sources of mana producers that aren't specifically plains and four mana for a fragile 1/1, seems weak. Either way GOVEGANPLEASE dug up some gold with this trade!
