Happy Monday PucaTraders!
This weekend the technical team did an extended maintenance window on pucatrade.com. As you can tell by reading this, the website is back up! You may run into some small hiccups while using the site, if you do please report them to our bug bot on Discord or email@example.com. Let’s talk about the update.
What Was Done?
You may not notice anything different, but the entire infrastructure was overhauled. Our platform uses a handful of technologies to give you the experience that you’ve grown to love. Many of those technologies have been updated and improved since our last overhaul, back in the Future Site days. Thanks to the hard work of the technical team, we’re now running on the latest versions of those technologies. During this upgrade, the site was also moved to a new server.
Why Do This?
Being on the latest technology offers a host of benefits. I'll mention a few here. For starters, we get speed. You may notice in some areas that the site is snappier. This is because of the update. Being on new hardware reduces our costs making the platform more sustainable. There are also technical benefits. It's easier to push code updates now. Also, these changes make way for new features and the ability to do things that we've been wanting to do.
One of the things that the team has been working on is Tradeable Subscriptions. With this feature, a member will be able to buy a subscription and trade it on the site. It’s been a desire of many Puca Traders to use the platform with no out-of-pocket costs. We’ve been working towards this with the addition of stamps to our catalog. When Tradeable Subscriptions go live, members will be able to trade points for a subscription.
Tradeable subscriptions are not the only thing in our pipeline. We also have some mailing and tracking features that we’re working on. I’ll talk more about both of these features in my end of the year article in a couple of weeks.
Until then, I want to thank everyone for your patience during our maintenance window, and I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season.
