It's my pleasure to reveal the new Marketplace feature on PucaTrade! Before I jump into the details, I want to thank our development team for all the hard work they put in—without them, this feature would never have seen the light of day. Thank you!
What is the Marketplace?
The Marketplace allows PucaTraders to "Buy" and "Sell" cards using PucaPoints. Traditionally, PucaTrade has only been a passive system for trading—you would add cards to your want list and people would send those cards. If you enjoy using PucaTrade in this way, you still can; the Marketplace is an added optional feature set that gives members more autonomy in the process of acquiring cards. Here's how it works:
If you're looking to pick up some cards, you can now click the "Buy Cards" button:
This will bring you to a page with all the cards that other PucaTrade members are selling. You can either use auto-match to find cards on your Wants list auto-magically, or you can search/browse the current offers:
You can even use a filter to only see offers below a certain bonus amount, but keep in mind that you'll see more offers the higher that you set the bonus filter:
Once you find an offer that you like, click the "Buy Card" button. This will initiate a trade request and move your points into escrow. The seller will then have an opportunity to accept or decline your request. If the seller accepts the trade, it will be treated just like a normal trade.
If you want to look at the other cards available from the seller, click the "View Member's Other Haves" button under the trade dialog. This will allow you to add other cards to the buy request. This can also be done by the seller, to add other cards to the trade from your want list.
To sell cards on the Marketplace, you first need to have an Uncommon or Rare membership. If you have one, then you can turn on the Marketplace feature under Settings. Below the switch, you can set a minimum package size—this requires a trade to be above a certain amount before someone can request it:
Once the Marketplace feature is on, you can post a card for sale by clicking the "Available to Buy" icon on the listing in your Haves list:
To add a new card for sale, use the same process for adding a card to your Haves list, then select the same "Available to Buy" button in the prompt:
This will open the selling prompt:
Once a card is listed on the Marketplace, other members will have the ability to request a card from you. When they do, you'll get a notification and an alert icon will appear next to the Sending link on the menu:
You can then Accept or Reject the request from your sending page:
If you accept the request it will be treated as a normal trade. It will also automatically be protected with PucaShield. If you reject the request, the requester will be notified and your want will become available on your have list again.
You can also manage your whole Haves list in a number of ways. First, if you'd like to start a fresh Haves list, you can delete your old Haves list by going to My Cards > Collection then make the following selections under "Clear List":
If your Haves list is up-to-date and you want to set all the cards on it up for sale, you can do it with the group management buttons at the top of the Haves list. You can also set a blanket promotion for them:
I've been waiting a long time for this feature set. My hope is that it will do three things for the platform:
- Create a downward pressure on the price of cards in PucaPoints by allowing for competition through the Marketplace.
- Establish more trust in the platform by allowing people to cash out in cards without having to wait for a match.
- Make PucaTrade more friendly to stores and those who ship a high volume of cards by offering more tools to set up shop.
I'm excited to see what happens next! If you have questions about the new feature, please join me in one of the upcoming campfire chats that I'll be holding. Until then, go buy some cards!
