Welcome back to Give and Let Give!

I've finally chosen a foil for the Trade of the Week and it's a nice one! This was among the first series of Expeditions from Oath of the Gatewatch. I have to say, I've forgotten that set even existed...

It required a search in order to remember what was even good in that set ([[Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet::id=29958]], [[Kozilek, the Great Distortion::id=29913]], [[Thought-Knot Seer::id=53617]]). The Zendikar Expeditions were pretty hard to crack as I remember.

I did a little research and found this info on a Reddit post:

So, the odds of any given pack of BFZ containing a Z.E. land are 1 in 432, or roughly 0.2%.

One small step further shows that within a box, containing 36 packs, the likelihood of a box of BFZ containing one of these lands is 36/432 or 1/12 or 8.3%.

After reading this I will consider myself pretty lucky to have pulled a Wooded Foothills in a BFZ fat pack.

Welcome back to Give and Let Give!

Kaldheim trading is in full swing and I'm already seeing KHM cards moving. I don't suspect we will see any on Top Trades, but there have already been some sweet promos and foils going out.

With the release of another new set, not heading off to the prerelease on Saturday morning bums me out a bit. I'm hoping we can get back to that soon.

There are a number of prerelease options now with MTGO, Arena and video cams, but still not quite the same as cracking/building and jamming some games with your friends.

That said, I need to do some sending and get some wants added! Hopefully you will do the same.

Today's trade of the week is from nearly 30 years ago and deserves some respect!

Welcome back to Give and Let Give!

Before we get into the trades let's talk Kaldheim. As with every new standard set (these days), there's an overwhelming amount of new cards between the normal cards, the extended art cards, the borderless cards, the showcase cards, the commander cards. And then there is the boosters... you catch my drift.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the borderless/extended art cards (if you check my wants you will agree), but it does create a fair amount of additional work to get the set up, tradeable and with accurate pricing.

I'm happy to let you know that all the cards from Kaldheim are tradeable as of this article! Please let us know through the appropriate channels on discord if you find anything missing.

On to the trade of the week. Even though it's starting off this way, my pick of the week will not always be the trade with the highest points, but... this is pretty sweet!

Happy 2021 Traders!

I'll be the first to admit it's been a long time since I've written anything. A while back I had taken over the "All the Good News" series, but my spare time to create an in depth article like that became limited and some other things in life needed more attention (work, family, etc...). Same old story right?

Well... I'm back with a new weekly blog series and this will be the first edition. I typically don't do New Year's resolutions, even though this might seem like one. I believe that if you want a make a change, there is no time like the present. I do like having a hand in producing content for PucaTrade and the start of a New Year seemed like a good time to kick this off.

This series will be all about the best cards going out via PucaTrade and my pick for "Trade of the Week". I hope these are fun and quick reads!

Hey traders, Happy New Year!

I'm Chris Powell and I'm back with more good news!

I hope your holidays were Magic-filled—I know mine were. I was at GP Portland in early December and GP Oakland in early January (err... Magicfest Oakland?). Whatever they are calling them these days, it didn't feel any different than a GP. Both main events were Modern; I played my Naya Eldritch Evolution brew in Portland and Hollow One in Oakland, finishing at 2–3 in each. Those results weren't ideal, but I did quite well in side events and won a bunch of prize tickets.

I love going to GPs (win or lose) and both were a blast. My opponents were friendly and everyone around me seemed to be in happy spirits. Outside of playing in events I ran into so many folks from my MTG past and present. If you haven't made it out to a GP, I highly recommend it.

What's in store for this month?

New Features

You may have read Jonathan Medina's article, but we added some big new functionality to the promotion features:

  1. You can add as many promotions as you'd like and not have to purchase them until the trade is committed to you.

  2. The promotion is no longer a fixed price and works off percentages. This means that your promo will update with the card's price and ensure that you don't miss out on important trades.

  3. You can see how much people are offering (as a percentage) on your send screen rows.

    ""

We think these are very valuable additions to this feature and allows you to make zero-risk promos. This is one of the ways we want to promote and increase trade in 2018.

    2019 Goals

The new year is upon us and we always believe it's important to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. As a company, we come up with goals that we'd like to meet throughout the quarter and year. Maybe it's not news, but our core goal has always been: PUT MORE CARDS IN MAILBOXES.

It may sound basic or a bit of a cop out, but we do have limited resources and ensuring those go toward the core of what makes PucaTrade great is exactly where we want to be. We have some feature ideas on how to help with that goal (more on this from Jonathan on Friday). I think we made huge strides in 2018 to improve the economy and create features that make trading (promoting) easier and in turn increase trade.

I have high hopes for this year and we are already starting to see some traders who left the site coming back.

    Bug Fixes

    ""

Most of the bug fixing the last couple months was related to the new promotion features, but we do have a backlog of things we will be looking into over the upcoming months.

The most recent updates to the site can always be seen here. This link is on the version number in the footer of the site (currently v3.6.7.2). I agree this is a tad hidden on the site and most people don't know about it, so I will do my best to give updates in these posts going forward.

    Wrap Up

MTG is definitely on the upswing with Arena taking the spotlight and Ravnica Allegiance about to shake up the Standard format. Even I have been playing Standard these days on Arena (having not played Standard in over two years) since it's easily accessible without spending a bunch on cards!

Enjoy the release weekend and send those unwanted cards out on Puca. I know I will be!

Thanks for reading! As always, give and let give!

Chris Powell is one of the Founders of PucaTrade and now serves as an Advisor. He started playing Magic in 1994–1995, but took a 17—year hiatus. Fellow developer Mitch Trale got him back into the game in 2012 with Return to Ravnica. Shortly after that, they teamed up to build PucaTrade.

""

    Hey traders!

I'm Chris Powell and I'm back with more good news!

How is Guilds of Ravnica treating everyone? My experience has been pretty positive so far from going to the prerelease, drafting, and now starting a league within my play group.

Initially we started with a Sealed Pool (six packs) and are adding a pack a week to increase the power level along with allowing trading within the pools. One trade per week per league member with rarity parity (can only trade common for common, uncommon for uncommon, etc.). We thought this would be a fair way to trade so that two members couldn't just trade a stack of cards they aren't using for a stack of the other members, creating a disparity between power level.

My Pool was somewhat crazy based on the rares with [[Nullhide Ferox::id=40742]], [[Light of the Legion::id=40896]], 2 [[Venerated Loxodon::id=40897]]s, [[Assure // Assemble::id=40948]] and [[Underrealm Lich::id=40945]]. How could I not play Selesnya splashing Black for the Lich and some premium removal? I've traded into a bit of a go-wide strategy with 3 [[Sworn Companions::id=40631]] to take advantage of the 2 Loxodons early and other Convoke creatures. The league has been a fun way to crack some packs and spark some interest in limited within the group.

Lets see what's good this month?

    Puca News

    Product Releases

    ""

Guilds of Ravnica was released on October 5 and everything is tradeable on PucaTrade! A lot of GRN is getting traded out there between rotation and its huge impact on the new standard. I've already been promoting and receiving [[Knight of Autumn::id=40934]] and [[Mission Briefing::id=40900]].
    View Set

The Guild Kits released on November 2—these are also tradeable now on PucaTrade! There are some good reprints in this set along with some cool new art. Most notable are [[Shattering Spree::id=41071]], [[Privileged Position::id=41154]], and [[Glimpse the Unthinkable::id=41052]].

    Upcoming Releases

Ravnica Allegiance: Releases January 25, 2019

Although I had originally thought that Returning to Ravnica and doing it for three major sets seemed like overkill, I've had a lot of fun with Guilds of Ravnica and am looking forward to seeing how the other five guilds play out. I have to say I do love me some Rakdos!

    50 Million Points Removed

    ""

Can I just say, WOW! Since the last "All the Good News" article, we crossed the 50 million point–mark for points removed from the system. The top feature sinking these points is Promoted Wants by far coming in at over 25 million.

I want to extend a warm thank you to everyone using these features and trading on PucaTrade, we couldn't have reached this goal without you and are continually seeing this number increasing.

The points in circulation are decreasing every month in the system and we are seeing a lot of positive effects from it:
